SE-Guard: High Availability and Disaster Recovery for
Oracle Standard Edition and SE1
High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) are requirements for
business critical applications that cannot afford system downtime or must
minimize downtime in a disaster situation.
While the costs associated with business downtime continue to rise, price
premiums for high-availability solutions continue to decline.
There are several High Availability options available in the Oracle
environment, some hardware based and others database driven. But to use
database redundancy options provided by Oracle (Data Guard or Streams)
the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle database software is required.
Cintra has developed a standby database solution for Oracle’s Standard
Edition and SE1 compliant to versions 8i, 9i,10g, and 11g. Key features built
into our standby database integration solution include:
·
Automated log shipping.
·
Minimal data loss configuration.
·
Delayed log apply feature for protection against database
corruption.
·
Integrated monitoring with email alerts.
·
Supports manual failover and fail-back operations.
·
Certified to Oracle versions 8i through11g.
·
Supports both local high availability and remote disaster
recovery configurations.
·
Available on Windows, Linux, and Solaris OS.
Approach and Deliverables
Working alongside your Systems and Database Administrators, our Database
Architects will provide a configuration blueprint, which includes configuration
details and operational considerations. The scope of the package includes:
·
A detailed configuration document.
·
Installation of a Standby database integration solution for a
single primary production database.
·
Knowledge transfer to your personnel with an understanding
on how to administer and monitor the solution.
