New York based Town Sports International (TSI) is the largest owner and operator of fitness clubs in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States and the third largest fitness club operator in the US. TSI operate under the brand names of New York Sports Clubs, Boston Sports Clubs, Washington Sports Clubs and Philadelphia Sports Clubs.
The challenge
Town Sports International were faced with an Oracle E-Business Suite v12 application and database architecture upgrade, in order to achieve a high level of redundancy and performance without the typical lengthy deployment timeline and complexity associated with a clustered application and database architecture to support the EBS suite of applications, the EBS modules included Financials, i-Procurement, Inventory, Warehouse and Discoverer Reporting.
Traditional architecture options required a complex and lengthy integration project to integrate servers, networks and storage from multiple vendors, as well as a significant investment in infrastructure and data center space. This technical integration challenge presented a costly option with a less than assured outcome given the project’s time constraints.
