AmorSaúde, the largest network of medical-dental clinics in Brazil in partnership with Cintra, the Multi-Cloud Database Architects, has initiated a major modernization project to migrate its core systems from Oracle Cloud to a native PostgreSQL cloud environment on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Launched in early April 2025 and scheduled for completion in November 2025, this strategic migration and modernization initiative is expected to generate tangible benefits throughout its implementation, positioning AmorSaúde to provide more accessible, cost-effective, and high-quality healthcare to millions of Brazilians.
AmorSaúde serves approximately 10% of the Brazilian population, operating more than 485 clinics and performing over 15 million consultations annually. The organization faces unique challenges, including demand spikes driven by social media campaigns, seasonality, and the need to serve underserved communities. Its legacy infrastructure had become a significant bottleneck, limiting scalability and raising operational costs.
To overcome these challenges, AmorSaúde joined forces with Cintra, leveraging Cintra’s expertise in AWS migrations and database modernization. The ongoing migration utilizes advanced AWS services such as Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS Lambda, and DynamoDB. This modernization allows AmorSaúde to efficiently manage large patient volumes, support real-time consultations, and address a 30% absenteeism rate through intelligent overbooking strategies.
Phased Migration: The project, started in April 2025, is being executed in phases to ensure minimal disruption. Initial deployments in non-production environments have already improved system responsiveness, and the full migration to production is scheduled for November 2025.
Scalability and Performance: As migration progresses, AmorSaúde is already noting improvements in scalability and performance. The organization is working to support more than 500 clinics, enabling faster scheduling and more efficient data processing across its digital channels.
Cost Efficiency: Migration to AWS is reducing operational costs by eliminating Oracle licensing and support fees. Participation in the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) is providing about 30% savings in initial onboarding and cloud modernization costs, with further optimizations underway.
Operational Resilience: The new architecture is designed to deliver enterprise-level SLAs, with improved recovery time objectives (RTO) from 30 minutes to 5 minutes, and recovery point objectives (RPO) reduced to as little as 0–5 minutes, minimizing data loss risk and maximizing uptime.
Strategic Impact: The ongoing modernization is enabling advanced capabilities in AI, analytics, and automation through the AWS service portfolio, supporting AmorSaúde’s mission to expand access to affordable healthcare and strengthen its market leadership.
The ongoing transformation at AmorSaúde marks a pivotal step towards sustainable growth and operational excellence. As a healthcare provider to millions of Brazilians, its uninterrupted operations are crucial for national healthcare system stability; any disruption would put significant pressure on the public health system (SUS). Through its partnership with AWS and Cintra, AmorSaúde is advancing its mission — “Caring with love for everyone’s health” — integrating advanced technology, a scalable business model, and a strong commitment to social impact.
